The recent earthquake in Japan presents us with two facts: the uncontrollable power of nature and consequences of human action.
The first should somehow stop the human feeling of absolute control of the natural landscape that too often leads to abuse. The second is to make us look at those actions often considered the most convenient and fruitful, but they have quite negative consequences. In fact right from the start the media have told us that the tragic event, have focused on the dramatic increase in the number of victims, by hand, and the fate of many nuclear power plants in the area, on the other.
This leads us to wonder about the fate of our country ahead of the referendum in June. The return of nuclear power is really a convenient choice as some apparently neutral television commercials would have us believe? It solves the problem of energy dependence on oil? It is secure, safe and clean? The radiation causes damage to our health? Where and how the waste will be disposed of?
These and many other questions should arise spontaneously. But it is not easy to ask in a country or where the information is filtered, or is censored.
The only country that plays by the decisions and the future of its development. In fact in 2010 the Berlusconi government will issue the third in tariff, the law governing the distribution of incentives to invest on renewable energy and that was to remain in force until 2013. Recently the government announced that retract and the law will cease to have effect on 31 May 2011. In practice, at any moment many small businesses will find themselves without funds and without customers willing to invest in solar, given the considerable costs of the systems, however, that costs are quickly recovered and that over time become in earnings. This is the latest brainstorm of "rule making" and basically we know that Silvio like to play with the laws and decrees, especially when he has a personal gain. It will be a case that the incentives for renewables were blocked a few months before the referendum on nuclear power? Implausible coincidence. And how will a government used to cut indiscriminately on the whole to bear the cost burden that the nuclear problem anyway?
For these and many other reasons we need to be a Local Committee Vote yes to stop the nuclear and invite associations local environmental, health and environmental pact Nino Amato and Legambiente, to join us in the information campaign in the referendum.
